Glassblowing Lessons Near Portland

We offer private glass art classes in Glassblowing, Lamp working, & Fusing.

This format allows us tailor our lessons to those who want to learn the skills to work with glass, as well as the bucket listers who want to give it a try!
We love hosting teams, families, date nights, celebrations, wedding / unity pieces, and some other special projects. With our format you can:
- invite who you want
- schedule a time slot Monday - Saturday that is convenient for you
- bring cool items home the following week

A first lesson for 1-2 people will make all four projects, a lesson for 3-4 makes the first three!

Our shop can accommodate both small and large groups.
Prices are based on number if participants:
1-2 students $375
3-4 students $450
5-6 students $750
7-8 students $900
9+ $25 per student beyond 8 students

First lessons orient students to the hot shop, covering safety equipment, and hand tools. The first exercise teaches students to gather molten glass from the furnace and sets up a series of projects progressing in difficulty and skill, starting with a “snowman,” followed by a paperweight with added color, an ornament, and for smaller sized classes, we end with a cylinder that most students use as a cup or candle votive. During certain times of the year we can modify activities to feature heart paperweights, pumpkins, or floats as alternate versions to our typical format pictured.

Our lessons run 3-4 hours and are booked in 9am-1pm, 1:30-5:30pm, and 6-10pm time slots Monday through Saturday.
Sunday’s may be available by special request.

Come back the following Saturday during our open gallery hours 11am-3pm, to pick up your creations (we’ll have completed any cold working -grinding down of any rough edges - needed for you)!

When you reach out to schedule please let us know what day of the week and time slot you prefer to expedite the scheduling process. To schedule email us please use our contact form or email info@firehouseglass.com.

Please be patient with a response back as scheduling lessons requires coordinating multiple schedules. We typically schedule Saturdays a couple of weeks out and may require more than a weeks notice on other scheduling. We do not offer day of scheduling.

Torch / Lamp Working Lessons are $150 for a 2 hour lesson for 1 ($180 for 2 students). All materials included.
